Profile in purpose: Faced with type 1 diabetes and cancer, he chose triathlon instead

Nick Glover Born on the Isle of Man, 1977. Nick grew up playing football, like most young boys; growing up stout and with good reflexes. However, adversity struck when he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 14. From henceforth, it was weeks in the hospital at a time, followed by several years of getting used to the adjustment of living with such a condition. He had a close encounter with death at age 18 when his condition turned into Diabetic Ketoacidosis; a life-threatening complication that occurs mainly in patients with type 1 diabetes. Needless to say,...

November and December. Finishing the year strong at Ironman and Ironman 70.3 Langkawi

#findyourpurpose To cap off a purposeful first year, Purpose showed up strong at Ironman and Ironman 70.3 Langkawi 2017 surprising even ourselves. Fulfilling the promise of performance wear for triathlon and cycling built for the humid weather of South East Asia, Purpose was worn by triathletes over the half and full Ironman distances. We are truly proud of this achievement and would never have done it without those triathletes who believed in us. Thank you for making 2017 astounding.

In July and August, we showcased ourselves at the Race Across America

Collaborating with Team Australia II, we took the leap to feature our jerseys and cycling bibshorts in the world’s toughest cycling race – Race Across America. The race is a total of more than 5,000 kilometres which the team completed in just over six days. The Australia II, wearing Purpose, came in 2nd in the 4-man team and 3rd overall. This race not only allowed Purpose to feature our lightweight mesh constructed jerseys, it was also an opportunity to road-test Purpose jerseys at the highest level of performance. Thus we can truly affirm – when you wear a Purpose, you are wearing one...

In January & February, Purpose secured investments that helped us to be where we are today

#findyour2017 After incubating for most of 2016; testing fabrics, construction and products using most of our founder’s savings, we secured two rounds of seed investment in January and February 2017. This allowed us to be more ambitious in our product development and plan for an increase in our brand exposure. We knew what we wanted to create. First – make our products even better, and second – make it be known that Purpose is centred around making the most comfortable products for the humid climate of South East Asia. Created in South East Asia for South East Asia. The most comfortable...

Post-race reflections on Purpose, and the Ironman 70.3 Langkawi

Going into race weekend things got hectic. There was much to do, things yet to be prepared, and equipment to be tweaked. There was also the added pressure to do well – not just for myself to complete, but also for Purpose to perform and be noticed. Ironman 70.3 Langkawi was the second 70.3 of my life. Not the last obviously. But bigger than it just being a race, I felt that it was the perfect platform to showcase Purpose as a brand. Being a brand present in Singapore and Malaysia, Langkawi thus represents the right spot for Purpose to...
