Big on employee engagement and work-life balance, Hewlett-Packard (HP) sponsors race participation for their employees in multiple sports such as dragonboating, marathons and triathlons. This gives employees the opportunity to bond and also create forums for them to exercise and stay healthy.
11 years ago, the HP Tri Team was formed by the HPSRC (HP Singapore Recreation Club) and this year the team hit its highest contingent ever, of 90 triathletes.
Every year, the HP Tri Team takes part in the Tri-Factor Triathlon, where they aim to win the corporate challenge. They have won the corporate challenge seven times previously, but narrowly missed it this year!
“Over the years since we started, participation in the races we do becomes more competitive and that evolved into a bigger effort to recruit strong participants so that we have a higher chance of winning the corporate challenge,” said Vincent Ong, 43, senior R&D manager at HP.
“From next year onwards, we will be looking to sponsor participation in two triathlon races. The HP Tri Team committee plans to continue growing the club, both in size and competitiveness. We will be surgical in applying strategy next year in how we are going to group our top talents to have a higher chance to win the Corporate Championship next year.”
It was through the Tri-Factor race that the HP Tri Team learnt of PURPOSE, as we are the official apparel partner for the Tri-Factor series. “Our team made custom trisuits from PURPOSE and the general feedback from the members is that the material is very breathable!”
