Somewhat of a rising star in India’s local triathlon scene, Himanshu Puri is making an impact in just a few short years – from a non-swimmer to a 70.3 World Championship qualifier. In doing this, becoming a role model to many in Gurgaon, India’s triathlon community there. And being an assistant coach, he’s helping others achieve their triathlon goals too.

Despite tough competition, Himanshu qualified for the 70.3 World Championship not in his home race of Ironman 70.3 Goa but instead in the much more contested Ironman 70.3 Bahrain with wider, more competitive fields.

A proud wearer of PURPOSE gear, we caught up with Himanshu to ask about his inspiring triathlon journey and future goals.

No stranger to hard work, consistency and the improvements which come along with it, Philipp Kloeber is well known to  PURPOSE. A strong ambassador of the brand and products since 2018, Philipp has been breathing PURPOSE ever since.

Equally, we are also proud to have been able to follow his journey. From his first 70.3 race in Indonesia in 2019 to his now podium finish at IRONMAN Malaysia, Philipp’s accomplishments, on top of a high-intensity full-time occupation, are nothing short of inspiring.

It was a very long two years that many in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Southeast Asia kept waiting for Ironman Malaysia to happen again.

Albeit not as crowded with participants this year as in the past, the recently concluded 2022 Ironman Malaysia did not disappoint. The calibre of competitors was definitely top-notch, with several local and international athletes winning categories in their age categories. However, one of the winners of this race stood out above the rest – Andy Wibowo, from Indonesia. 

It's already sweaty between 3 to 5km and becomes even more so when running distances of 10km and above. When training for a marathon, distances pile up, and so too does the problem of the compound effect of sweat. Running clothes don't dry fast enough, becoming more sweaty, uncomfortable, and heavy the further one runs.

Since 2017, PURPOSE PERFORMANCE WEAR’s achievements were not that it was the first brand from Singapore, maybe even Southeast Asia, to launch high-performance technical apparels triathlon, running, and cycling space. But that it achieved so many accolades within a few short years. Still, with a small yet growing audience, PURPOSE has accomplished so much year on year that it’s a wonder what else it can do with a large user base.

After a 2-year pause, PURPOSE is doubling down on triathlon, running and cycling for modest Muslim women. One of the most physically challenging sports, triathlon has been inaccessible for women who need to remain modest, especially those from Muslim countries.

It has been 2 years since the Ironman 70.3 Desaru Coast event was scheduled to take place, and many had hoped that the race would finally happen this year. Although indeed, the turnout was lesser than the total number registered to compete, the event was nonetheless a success for PURPOSE. With many participants and racers wearing our kits, this is perhaps a sign of how the brand has remained strong on everyone’s mind even through the pandemic.

Tendonitis 3 weeks before and food poisoning the night before a big race is usually enough to put someone off. But not for Arjun, completing every triathlete in Southeast Asia’s comeback race with a strong 4th in category and 11th overall.

With strong performance improvements year-on-year since 2018, the year he got introduced to PURPOSE, Arjun’s been wearing PURPOSE ever since. How much of those improvements are attributed to his tenacity and vision to be a better athlete and PURPOSE? We’ll never know. What we know is, that we are extremely glad to come along on his journey.

Another athlete who swears by PURPOSE, Philipp only started triathlon less than 5 years ago. A pure vegan, Philipp chose a plant-based lifestyle because of environmental, health and ethical reasons. Although he is aware that he is fighting a daily uphill battle, he hopes his plant-based lifestyle can inspire others to adopt the same for the health of our planet and oceans.
